How does Hall's Ecademy compare with other providers?
Certainly in comparison to home school support in the US, relatively little exists for those who wish to follow the National Curriculum for England and Wales. There is some support available on an individual subject basis and in addition to traditional school services. The key benefits you will see from the services offered by Hall's Ecademy are: 1. You have access to units of work that cover the entire National Curriculum for England and Wales. 2. Our provision is completely flexible, both in terms of cost (starting at £5) and when you decide to start following the lessons. 3. All our subjects are available on an individual basis or in combinations. Plus you have separate humanities subjects (History and Geography). 4. Once you have registered with us, we are available to offer advice on any educational topic that you need support with; simply email us with your query and we'll respond as quickly as we can.

What other materials will I need?
Most lessons are designed to use activities that require worksheets rather than books. These are included with each lesson plan. Books are sometimes used for reading or research and this will be indicated on the list of resources at the beginning of each lesson, along with any craft materials etc

Why must I register my child with Hall's Ecademy to use the resources?
For copyright reasons, we insist that all children who will use our materials are registered with us. This allows us to provide you with access to many more resources than if we allowed to copy and re-copy the materials we provide.

What commitment am I making by registering my child
There is no commitment in registering your child. All it means is that you are entitled to use all the materials you purchase from us with the child you have registered. It also allows us to link the purchases you make with that child so that if you need to contact us for any advice we can provide more personal support.

How is the academic year structured?
You are free to start studying at any date in the year. You do not have to follow the September to August academic year that is standard in UK schools. The units of work are grouped into 6 terms, A to F, each expected to last approximately 7 weeks. Each term contains 5 units of English and 5 units of Maths, along with one unit each of Science, History and Geography.

Is home education legal in the UK?
It is a common misconception that it is a legal requirement for children to attend school. The law actually states that "the parent of every child of compulsory school age shall cause him to receive efficient full-time education either by regular attendance at school or otherwise" (Section 7 of the Education Act 1996 for England & Wales). You might say that education is compulsory but school is not.
